How to set the time on watches with NH34, NH35, NH36, and VK63 movements
At XP Watch Co, we use Japanese Seiko movements renowned for their precision, durability, and performance. Here's how to correctly set your watch to ensure optimal operation.
Before You Start
Handle the watch with care, preferably on a soft surface to prevent drops or impacts.
Avoid adjusting the time or date between 9:00 p.m. and 3:00 a.m., as the internal mechanism is changing during this period and could be damaged.
If your watch has a screw-down crown, unscrew it by turning counter-clockwise until it is free.
NH34, NH35, and NH36 Movements
These Seiko automatic movements are highly reliable. The NH34 model includes a GMT function, while the NH35 and NH36 include date and day-date respectively.
To correctly set the watch:
Normal Position Allows manual winding of the watch by turning the crown clockwise. In this position, the hands and date should not move. You should feel slight resistance.
First Position Allows adjustment of the date on the NH35, the day and date on the NH36, or the 24-hour format on the NH34.
Second Position Allows adjustment of the time.
Step 1: Set the Time Pull the crown out to the second position. Turn the crown to move the hands. Carefully verify the AM/PM cycle to avoid date errors.
Step 2: Set the Date Push the crown to the first position. Turn the crown to set the date or day depending on the model.
Step 3: Close the Crown Push the crown completely in. If it is a screw-down crown, tighten it again to secure the watch's protection.
VK63 Movement (Meca-Quartz Chronograph)
This movement combines quartz precision with the feel of a mechanical chronograph.
First Position Allows date adjustment.
Second Position Allows time adjustment.
Step 1: Set the Time Pull the crown to the second position. Turn the crown to adjust the hands.
Step 2: Set the Date Push the crown to the first position. Turn to set the date.
Step 3: Using the Chronograph The top pusher located at 2 o'clock starts and stops the chronograph. The bottom pusher located at 4 o'clock resets the hands.
To Use It Press the top pusher to start. Press again to stop. Press the bottom pusher to reset.
Step 4: Chronograph Reset (if necessary) Pull the crown to the second position. Use the pushers to align the hands correctly.
Step 5: Close the Crown Push the crown in and secure it if necessary.
Important Recommendation
If you feel unusual resistance or something isn't working correctly, avoid forcing the mechanism. In that case, we recommend contacting us or a professional watchmaker.
